About Me It's hard not to be defined by my gifts when I've been a musician since I was four! I've also built up IT skills, teaching and being a contract Administrator. Spend most of my life in Coventry UK except for a spell in Machester UK and another in Antigua (WI).
Music I write and compose my own, so I don't listen to much so I keep original. When I do, I like classical from Monteverdi to Bartok, 70s, 80s, 90s (a bit); quality is what I enjoy whether it's rockin' with Status Quo or ELO, contemplating with Jon Anderson and Yes, empathising with Mike and the Mechanics or praising with Ron Kenolly, Mary Mary, Cindy Morgan. And I'm very impressed with Leeland.

Here are some of my songs - one new carol, one seasonal comedy song about 3 drunks going to midnight mass, and one new music to an old carol
Movies Very few films have the upbeat, encouraging quality I like. The Shawshank Redemption and Seabiscuit come to mind. Do you know the Australian film, 'The Dish'? An absolute gem about the town that was home to the key satalite station during the moon walk in 1969. The most recent film I've been to was 'Aviator', about Howard Hughes - spectacular, but sad ; and it was the last film my ex-wife and I went to together. If I'm channel hopping, I usually stop if it's 'North by Northwest' or 'The Fifth Element'. I also watch 'True Movies'. Does that count as TV?
TV Mostly Revelation TV/Genesis (SKY 765/772) or GOD TV and TBN in the background; I like documentaries and True Movies; Beyond Belief; Mythbusters; very little fiction, but I like NCIS and 3rd Rock from the Sun (I knew I had a sense of humour around here somewhere!)
Books Not much of a book person other than the Bible, which covers all genres anyway. I love the Oriel series, and Shadowmancer; I've just discovered for myself Ray Blackston; and anything about Creation Science.
Likes People; food, especially what Asians do to lamb!! American cars of the 50s and 60s
Dislikes Hypocrisy; shallowness; Englishness; email and text abbreviations!! (me & u tlk bout that l8r - lol)
Hobbies Walking; swimming; celidh dancing (need a partner!)
Vices I've decided to stop beating myself up about anything for the time being!
Virtues A dependable friend, a good listener, an encourager at all times.
Heroes Not Yeshua, because He's so much more than a hero; no man for his daring deeds; perhaps ALL OF YOU FOR DARING TO LET YESHUA BE REAL IN YOUR LIVES.

A GREAT BIG DAMPER ON THE SEASON!!!!

Friday, December 21, 2007, 02:11 PM GMT [General]

In Is.1:14 - 19, particularly 18, God asks us to use our minds about the hows and whys of what we do, especially in the area of how we worship Him, feasts and festivals we keep and so on. The (one) word translated "reason together" in the KJV also encompasses the ideas of:

to prove, decide, judge, rebuke, reprove, correct, be right, adjudge, appoint, show to be right, convince, convict, chide, argue

So God wants us to consult Him and use our intellegence about why we do what we do. Some questions:

Do you know why we celebrate Yashua's birth on December 25th?

Have you ever questioned why we have a tree with pretty ornaments hung on it?

Or why we often put a star on the top of that tree?

Do you know why "Santa's" outfit is red?

Or why he is show wearing a pointed hat?

I've found answers thanks in no small part to Michael Rood, that are shocking and disturbing; that reveal the inevitability that non-Christians would re-claim a festival that was once theirs.

The whole business of Christianity being made 'legal' by the Roman authorities in the 4th century - and how those 'Christians' absorbed pagan festivals (rather than destroy them) is riddled with questions and problems. 1Sam 15 tells the sorry story about Saul not totally destroying what he was commanded to. He lost his kingship. Are we in danger of the same attitude by maintaining pagan festivals, no matter how well disguised?

I think it's great to celebrate the birth of the physical form of our Saviour. But shouldn't it be done in a way that fits in with the rest of what we believe?

Next year I want to start celebrating Christ's birth in a way which is Godly, Holy and fun!

    More next year.......
